Standard Pomodoro Timer
The Pomodoro Technique, by the book — 25/5/15, no pausing.
The Pomodoro Technique in 5 steps
Choose one task. Set the timer to 25 minutes and work with full focus. When it rings, take a 5-minute break. After four pomodoros, take a longer 15-minute break. Repeat.
A pomodoro is indivisible
The core rule: once a pomodoro starts, it cannot be paused. If you must stop, the pomodoro is void — it does not count, and you start a fresh one. That is why this timer has no pause button, only 'Void pomodoro'.
Handling interruptions
Cirillo separates internal interruptions (your own thoughts) from external ones (someone or something). The discipline: inform the other party, negotiate a time, schedule the task, call back, and resume. Mark each interruption so you can see what breaks your focus over time.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I pause?
The Pomodoro Technique treats each 25-minute block as indivisible. Pausing would break the method, so stopping voids the pomodoro instead.
Can I change the durations?
No — this is the standard, strict timer, locked to 25/5/15 with a long break every 4 pomodoros. For custom lengths, use the flexible countdown timer.
What counts as a completed pomodoro?
Only a 25-minute focus block you run to the end. Voided pomodoros do not count.
